forgotten nights

This is a poem about the night-sky, the power it has over our memory and the fascination that it has held for us for millennia.

Clicking on the moon will start the poem playing. The poem that you hear will depend on the number and position of the stars. Add new stars by hovering over an empty space to see if a star can be added there. Click on a star to remove it from the sky. Each change to the night-sky will alter one or more lines of the poem. The toolbar at the bottom of the screen can help you in crafting the starscape.

Although the connections between the changes to the stars and the changes to the poem might be difficult to track, the lines are not randomly generated. Instead, the app reads the sky and uses the information to determine the content.

This poem was inspired by the work of Philip Gross and by Stephanie Strickland's V series of books and digital poems.
